Philippe Camus (born 28 June 1948) is a French businessman.[1] He serves as the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Alcatel-Lucent.[1]

Camus was born on June 28, 1948. He is a graduate of Sciences Po and the École Normale Supérieure.[1][2]

In 1972, he started working for the Caisse des dépôts et consignations.[3] In 1992, he joined the Lagardère Group and served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Banque Arjil until 1993.[3] In 1993, he was appointed as Managing Director of the Lagardère Group and helped restructure the Matra Group.[3] He also helped create EADS, and was its CEO from 2000 to 2005.[2][3] In 2008, he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Alcatel-Lucent.[4]

From 1996 to 2001, he served on the French supervisory authority for the financial markets.[3] From 2001 to 2005, he was the President of GIFAS.[3] He now serves as co-managing partner of the Lagardère Group and Senior Managing Director of investment bank Evercore Partners.[3][4] He also serves on the boards of directors of Crédit AgricoleAccor, and Schlumberger.[3] He is also a member of the Paris Europlace Association.[5]

He was decorated the Cross of the German Merit Order in 2004 and the Officer of the French Légion d’Honneur in 2005.[2][3]
