Janet sent a message to Greg D. Carmichael Chief Executive Officer of Fifth Third Bancorp Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Carmichael, I am writing to you as the new CEO in hopes that you will review our case and have mercy on us. Due to my son's near fatal car wreck on 11.13.13, we were forced to short sale our home at 351 Dye Rd. Bell Buckle, TN so that we could move our son to a warmer climate for his recovery (he spent 50 weeks in the hospital - I have all medical records that I would willingly furnish is you like). We have received bad advise at every turn. I have made multiple phone calls, sent letters and emails to various employees at Fifth Third over the 2014 and early part of 2015 calendar year, which resulted in no resolution. About in March or April of 2015, an offer was made by 5/3 to settle our account for $20,000, but $20,000 might as well have been 20 million! We have lost everything due to my sons accident. We would like to settle and get this monkey off our back once and for all. You have no idea how heavy a burden it is carrying this unresolved debt. Our loan was about $92,000. You received around $25,000 at closing, leaving a balance of about $65,000. We know that through the Federal reimbursement/insurance programs you would have received 80 - 85% of this amount back at this point. Assuming it was an 85% reimbursement of $65,000, that would leave a balance owed of $9,750. In my research, I see that most companies are willing to settle for 10% - 20% of the balance owed. I would like to offer $2,000.00 to settle this once and for all. I am sure that you have all my previously recorded phone conversations and letters. Feel free to review them. My story has not changed, nor has our bank account. We are still struggling to make ends meet and there is no sign that will ever change. My husband is retired, and I do not work as it takes both of us to manage our son's care. I know you do not know me and I'm sure you hear sad stories all the time, but I beg of you to consider and agree to our offer so that we can finally move on with our lives. It is with the most sincere request that I ask for this loan settlement. Please help us move on. Feel free to call me if you would like to discuss this further, or if you need any additional information. I am praying for a favorable outcome. Sincerely, Janet
