Debbie sent a message to Edward W. Stack – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dick’s Sporting Goods – Email Address that said:

Dear Mr. Stack,
I am writing to you from the state of Hawaii, where we are currently in the process of losing our only sporting goods retail store, as you know, Sports Authority.
I wish to encourage your company to consider opening stores in our lovely state. We had 8 stores in total, 2 on the Big Island of Hawaii, 1 on Maui, 1 on Kauai and the rest on Oahu.
I am emailing you from a very personal standpoint. Our son, Erik, had just been made manager of the Sports Authority store on Kauai. He has been with the company, since they opened their store in Hilo. He worked as Sales Manager in both the Hilo and Maui stores and then transferred to Kauai, as the assistant manager and then become Manager this March.
He has worked with a wonderful team under him, most notably his Assistant Manager, Leah, and his Operations Manager, Joyce, who would be a wonderful asset to any company.
I know I am just a mom, but, I am a mom with a vested interest in a man who would be a fantastic addition to your company.
I know that the wonderful line from the "GodFather" movie is very true here, " its business, not personal", but it is personal to me, but I hope you will also see this at practical and useful info!

The state of Hawaii needs a sporting good store. I have no doubt your company was able to see the sales generated here in the state during the run of Sports Authority and it is my hope this will entice you to look seriously at us for future expansion.

I can tell you that Erik Walter is on LinkedIn, and if you are interested, please take a peek!

Many thanks for listening to my "mom" soapbox!

Debbie
