Mr Boardman:
I am frequent Amtrak passenger and member of the Guest Rewards program.

I am writing to you as I am unable to resolve a scheduling issue through the normal ticket agent, customer service channels.

I have been attempting to make reservations on train 91, The Silver Star to go from Philadelphia to Deland on August 17th with accommodations in a sleeping car. The system indicates that they are sold out.

The Silver Meteor is available but the timing is not convenient for my purposes.

I checked reservations all the way up through January with the same results.
So it seems to me that a decision has been made to do away with the sleeping cars on The Star.
This issue I am submitting to you is; it this is the case why has this not been communicated to the sales agents and the customer service personnel? The customer service agent advised me that they could release space on a selective basis. She also could not even explain what that means?

As a customer I’m obviously confused and frustrated.

It would seem that there is a serious communications breakdown within the Amtrak organization.
