Travis sent a message to Stephen Burke CEO, NBCUniversal, Inc. that said:
I wanted to let you know that the episode of Law and Order SVU that aired tonight on January 13th, 2016 was an absolute disgrace.
I have been a fan of Law and Order for 25+ years. It has slowly gone downhill over the course of my viewership but tonight was an absolute low.
During the episode the writers decided that it was a good idea that the 16 year old hostage would be raped in the background including sounds of crying and screaming.
The level of violence has increased among many television shows over the years in an effort to increase ratings. This has come at a cost of exposing the American public to scenarios that can completely desensitize them.
As a father of a six year old girl, I hope she will never be exposed to the level of violence you chose to depict this evening.
The conscious effort of you and your corporation to believe that tonight's images are acceptable in mainstream media is inexcusable.
I have deleted this series from my DVR's timer.
I will continue to relive the old episodes via syndication that showed witty plots and exceptional acting.
Unfortunately, now this current style of show will no longer be allowed in my household.
I hope for your children's sake that they are not allowed access to such violent programming.
