Dear Mr. Ellison:I cannot begin to express the sadness I have about the closing of – Marvin R Ellison email address

Erica sent a message to Marvin R. Ellison ,€“ President of J. C. Penney Company Inc.- email address that said:

Dear Mr. Ellison:

I cannot begin to express the sadness I have about the closing of the Price, Utah J C Penney store. I adore shopping there and stop in, when I don’t need anything just to look around. The staff is wonderful, helpful, and friendly. Welcoming would be the best word to describe them. It is such a different experience than shopping in your Provo, Utah location. I do shop there, mostly for shoes as our Penny’s does not stock them. It really isn’t shopping, it is buying. The store is more clinical, empty and impersonal. Checking out in my Penny’s is friendly and charming, a real interaction with the staff. Paying in Provo, is mechanical.

I don’t think you can begin to understand what your store means to my community. Look to how I think of it, MY Penney’s or OUR Penney’s. I moved to Price, Utah from the Chicago area in 1994. Penney’s on Main Street is where I have bought the majority of my clothes, dress clothes and work clothes, all my coats and purses for 20 plus years. It is where my teenage daughter gets most of her school clothes, all her jeans, and looks both great and modest due to your selections. I bought my son his first suit, last May, for his Confirmation and Graduation from Junior High. His first, real, has to be tied tie, as well.

I can assume that this decision is already final, but I am asking that you hold on for only one more year. I feel the upcoming Presidential election will mark a turning point of new optimism for the country and a major up-tick in the economy. Our community has been hard hit, our population is down, with coal mines closing. Another empty storefront on Main Street in Price, looks like another nail in our county’s coffin. But this is an area known for its massive swings of ups and downs. We are due for another surge and I would hope your store would be here for it.

Sincerely,
Erica
