Darrell sent a message to Kazuo Hirai ,President and CEO, Sony Corporation that said:

Hey Kaz,
I'm sure that as the CEO of one of my favorite companies that you receive about a million emails a day, and I hate to be the guy that adds another one to your pc but my experience over the last several days have been atrocious. I was in line when the first Playstation cam out in 94 and have owned every one since then without disappointment, without hesitation when it came to price. Furthermore, let's go back this email is not an attempt to try to get something for free, nor is it an attempt to try to get your company to do something unorthodox or unethical, I simply wish for fairness through my situation. I saved my but off for 6 months to purchase the ps4 and even though that was the case I was still struggling with my finances, you having a Playstation to me is a must. On 2/18/16 my console was stolen from my home, and immediately after calling the police, I contacted ps4 support to try to obtain the serial number off the console to write it down in the police report. The operator showed remorse for what had happened yet, he advised that for my security he could not grant my request (understandable). So I thought why not just have them use the serial number against the thief right. Wrong! I simply asked that the console be marked as stolen once the individual tried to use the serial number to either register it or to try to pawn it. Now let's think about this, what if this ps4 belonged to your children how would this go? As the CEO of the manufacturer I'm sure you can just make a call or open a closet to rectify the situation (no diss). This isn't the case here, not for me at least. As I said before I saved 6 months for the console and my intent was clear to keep playing this thing (whenever time permitted) until it exploded, but for real that's what I bought it for. So am I to understand that the joy simply goes to the person in possession? If so, what is the point of registering the thing in the first place? At the risk of rambling, and I've been to I do this from time to time, I'll keep it simple. If I can't enjoy the ps4, then why should a thief be able to? Why can a giant competitive corporation protect the people who have been loyal to their products for so long? I feel that there needs to be more of a sense of urgency for matters like this, don't you? For example, offering a protective plan that insures the user that if the ps4 is stolen then a deductible for the theft should cover the loss, and of course you guys would have to require that the console be registered before the protection was even qualified for, just in case (like me) the customer didn't think to write it down. Just a thought. It has been a horrible week, very close to the one I had after the death of my brother, shortly after I purchased the 4 in 2013. Now, I'm not sure if this is going to reach you, but I am hopeful that you would at least consider this.
