Jim sent a message to Mark Fields, President and Chief Executive Officer ,Ford Motor Company email address that said:
Dear Sir, I would like to explain the situation I have ended up in. I am from the country New Zealand and we are pleased to see that Ford are making a right hand Mustang now so we ordered a Black Hard Top Mustang V8 that is part of an allocation issued to NZ. I am told the ship load of Mustangs should arrive in our country in April. I ordered an automatic for my wife in October for the next shipment due in April but due to unfortunate circumstances she will not be able to drive this car now so I will take ownership of that car myself to drive. My wife and I have always been a Ford and Mustang muscle car enthusiast but I prefer to drive a manual gearbox. I asked the Ford Franchise dealer in Auckland NZ (North Harbour Ford) if I can change the option of automatic to manual and they asked Ford NZ if that is possible and Ford NZ have said no. I am writing this to ask the powers that be in Ford America if they can please look at this and accommodate what I am asking for. Ford NZ said the vehicles are already made and cannot change anything which I am finding hard to believe knowing that Ford America is a huge company that has survived through a recession and focus very hard on customer satisfaction. If I cannot change my option then I will sadly and regrettably need to cancel my order. Look forward to hearing back from you. Yours Sincerely Jim Laughton.
