Dear Dr. Zetsche,

I am writing you to let you know that I’m very disappointed in Mercedes Benz. I just bought my first MB, which will become my last, last January. It arrived to Mexico on January the 22nd and I picked it up on the 30th. I was very exited with my purchase and very confident that I have bought the best in class.

What was my surprise that on the night of February the 9th, when I was going to drop a friend of mine, the car stopped working in the middle of the road almost at midnight!! I was in total shock! I could not switch any gear or anything! In the end I called MB customer assistance and since the car started (only yellow engine light on), they told me I could drive. I took it the next day to the dealer, but the light was gone and they told me that they were booked and probably was nothing, that I could keep driving it.

Then on the night of February 17th, I went to pick-up my 10 year old daughter from a Basketball game at night. The game ended close to 10 pm. We were on our way home when on a stoplight, the damn car stopped working again! Nothing I could do, not even pull over! Can you imagine yourself with your daughter stranded in the middle of the night! It is something that you wouldn’t expect and it feels even worse when your are supposed to be driving “the best or nothing”!

I called again MB customer assistance (report 11696893) and they send me a tow truck, but said it would take 90 minutes to get there! I live in Monterrey, Mexico and there are plenty of companies around. Actually I ended up calling a company myself that only took 30 minutes! We took the car, with less than a month of use, to the dealer!

Now the dealer just told me that it is the “egs module” and they are requesting the part. They have lend me a car so I am at least driving. They are doing what they are supposed to do, but I need a response from Mercedes-Benz. I want a new car or my money back. I was going to buy and Audi, but chose Mercedes because I thought they were better. I am very disappointed in your brand. I understand this could be a one in a million failure, but I need a response accordingly.
