I will attempt to keep this short. But I just wanted to share my shopping experience at the Game Stop on Towne Center Drive in Louisville, KY. Let me start by saying, this is my favorite Game Stop ever. I actually can't stand going to other ones because no one provides service like this Game Stop. But I felt the need to share this negative shopping experience because I really don't want what happens at the other Game Stops to begin happening at this one. I should also note that I am a 22 year old female that has been gaming for as long as I could walk.
Now, my issue is with two females at this location. I believe one is pretty new and the other arrived a few months ago. I do not know their names but I know that I literally cannot stand being in the store when they are there. For one, they are hounders. They ask soooo many questions. They follow me around the store. It is very very annoying. I do not have this issue with the males. The males are very straight forward. They give helpful information and always know what they are doing. They are quick and just overall wonderful. Let me give this exmaple of issues with the women.
Woman 1. I come into the store. She asks if I need assistance. I say no, I know what I am here for. She then says okay great. Less than 2 minutes go by and she's right by my side trying to talk to me about the game that I am purchasing. Maybe some people like this. But I find it annoying when I know what I want and asked for no help. I inform her of this. She giggles and apologizes and walks away. Would you believe that she comes back again once I walk over to another game systems games? She begins asking all of these questions. I am just frustrated and say can you just check me out? She says sure. I also had two games that I wanted to trade return. We go to the register and she attempts to convince me, a person who has had a powerup card for at least two years now, that I did not need a powerup card for the transaction. I explain to her that every single thing that I do at this counter gets my card swiped. She disagrees. I say even if you feel it is not neessary, can you just do it? She then claims that she can't because she would then have to cancel the entire transaction and start over, as if this was just such a big deal. I just say okay fine. And we complete the purchase. Ever since then, I have seen her at that register twice and if no one else is avialable, I leave and return when I know my favorite employees will be working.
Woman 2. I came in about a week ago to purchase Fallout 4. I go to the game. This woman comes over asking all of these questions. She tries to tell me that she has Fallout behind the counter an dit would be easiest if I just came there to get it. I explain that I always just bring the game up there because I like comparing the pre owned price and the new price beforehand and it just makes me feel better. A little OCD I am sure but that's just how I operate. I notice that one of the Fallout 4 games says 25 bucks. I am absolutely amazed because come on, its Fallout 4. No way its 25 bucks. But I say hey that's what it says so I'm gonna bring it up there. I get to the counter and lay the game down. The woman is like whoa we had a serious price drop! I'm like I guess so. It's weird but hey I'll take it. She then examines the game and says, ''oh. Someone put a Forza sticker on here. This isn't the price for Fallout.â I ask to see. She is telling the truth. The part that got me, is when she turns to the other female employee and says ''talk about obvious deceit.'' Now I don't know specifically what she meant by that, but I'm offended bacause I feel she's thinking that I am trying to take advantage. I say ''excuse me?â She says ''it's just weird. Im sorry. The sticker isn't for the game. I have to give you the price that it says when it s scans.â I said ''um okay.â Meanwhile thinking, I bet Gamestop has some type of policy where whatever price is listed, is what is given. I didn't feel like going back and forth considering the second woman is also the woman from my first story. The woman scans the game and says its 55. I said ''okay whatever. Just give me the game. I need the game.'' That basically ended the transaction.
Ultimately, I do not appreciate how the price situation was handled. I also question GameStop policy because it's really not my fault that the sticker wasn't correct. Someone there made a mistake. As a former HR intern for Target and Electronics Team Leader at Wal-Mart, I would be greatly surprised if you all do not have a price policy in this situation. Anyway, I am not looking to get anyone fired or to even receive compensation. But I want my old Game Stop back. I can't deal with coming into a store where I feel like I am being followed and not receiving correct policy in regards to things. I game too much and love GameStop way too much for this to be the case. I hope that this gets to whomever it needs to get to. I just need a change. Thanks.
