My parents have been buying Fords from Fordthorne, 281 Penarth Rd, Cardiff, CF11 8YZ. For the last 25 years. Both myself and my brother also purchased our first car from them many years ago and we have recommended all our family and friends to them over the years. My parents purchased their very last car from them 3 years ago which was a brand new fiesta with a small capacity engine. Unfortunately both my parents now suffer from Alzheimers / Dementia and have their driving licence revoked by DVLA. From the body work damage which is all over the car it is very transparent that the driver of the car should not be driving due to the damage being so extent. Unknown to myself or my parents health worker the car was towed to Fordthorne as the gearbox was burnt out. I have put the car on the market to be sold as is, this is why it has not been repaired. My dad is 84 years old and I hold power of attorney overy him and my mum. I had a strange call from his bank saying that there was suspicious activity on his bank account and that £600+ has gone out which they established being Fordthorne.
The most my dad normally spends is about £20 in one go under supervision. Anyone who speaks to my dad will realise that he can barely hear anything on the phone and that he has understanding and memory difficulties. You do not have to be a trained health care professional to know that something is not right with him. To charge £600+ to a pensioner who suffers from Alzheimers / Dementia is astonishing. He has no idea what he has paid for or even making the payment. I am absolutely speachless that my parents have continued to be loyal customers of fordthorne for the last 25 years and to be now treated like this. My mum is terminally ill at University Hospital of Wales, this is the last thing that I want to deal with at the moment. I will be making everyone aware of what has taken place including the South Wales Echo and Sky News.
