Mr. Cornell,
I have always loved Target, for the prices, cleanliness, variety of products and pleasant shopping experiemce. We have exclusively used Target to shop for our groceries. I have a family of 6 and love that your store offers many organic options. We shop at least twice a month and our grocery bill after cartwheel and red card savings are around $400 a trip so roughly $800/ month just in groceries. We also shop here for clothing, gifts, school supplies, etc. So the point I'm making, is as a family, we spend a great deal of money at your store each year.
I recently heard about Target's decision to allow transgender individuals to use the opposite sex bathrooms and was appalled. As a mother of 4 and a woman in general, the thought of a man, in the biological sense anywhere near myself or my child in the privacy of a bathroom was far beyond disturbing. If you choose to cater to the rights of a person identifying as a different gender than what their anatomy shows over mine and my children's, I will spend my money elsewhere.
My rights as a human being and my duty as a mother to protect my children are just as, if not more, important than a transgender being comfortable in a bathroom. Shouldnt my comfort be considered? Target's position on this subject has motivated me, along with many other Americans to boycott your store. As sad as I am to not shop at a place I love, I am far more concerned about this issue and will stand up against the bullying of your company on families.
In accomodating a few you are alienating many. I do hope you feel the pain of this decision hard in your pocket as more and more people stand up against this injustice.
