Cotishea sent a message to David V. Auld – President and Chief Executive Officer of D.R. Horton Inc. – Email Address that said:
I am working with my realtor to determine who is the correct person to contact regarding a failed home purchase at the Arbors at Willowbay in Frisco.
In mid-April this year I put a home(quick move in) under contract with your sales agent(Bobbilynn Jones) at 13862 Mammoth Cave Drive in Frisco. During the month that I was scheduled to finalize financing and close on the house I had a number of negative experiences with your onsite contractors working to fix the many cosmetic issues that we agreed would be done prior to close.
Overall the contractor was very disingenuous when it came to upholding his end of the contract. I took time away from work and family to drive out to the property and he completely disregarded my time and items that were scheduled to be fixed were not resolved. After 2 failed walks and undue stress and pressure that this caused to me personally and financially(I had to pay the upcharge for my apartment being on month to month) I decided to walk away from the contract. I discussed my displeasure with the sales manager and was told that the contract would be cancelled and she took his word for completion of the work. A few days later, after the contract had been cancelled, she called me back with the contractors manager to discuss how they would now resolve the remaining issues and “re-write” the contract. Because of the stress I had already endured with the house and additional lack of trust in their ability to do anything but further upset me I decided not to write the contract again.
Overall I’m very disappointed with the way this was handled and the overall lack of professionalism on the part of DR Horton staff at the Arbors. I have friends who live in the community and really enjoy it and I was hoping to join them.. unfortunately I’m at a point where I’m without a home and missed several equally good or better opportunities trying to be patient and work through this one and also paying much more for a month to month contract on my apartment. I am specifically asking for return of my full deposit due to the breech in completion of activities agreed and the stress overall that this situation has caused and with the added fees related to month to month this money is very much needed.
