Hayley sent a message to Stefano Pessina – Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. – Email Address that said:
Dear Stefano Pessina,
I hope this correspondence finds you well. I have visited your Queen Street, Cardiff Boots store today. I have attempted to buy a Gift Card from your store, when at the till to complete my purchase the cashier advised that I cannot pay with vouchers (bonus bonds) to purchase another voucher. Where I can understand this I do not understand why this is not made clear to the consumer. I questioned where this is in writing either in store or on the Boots website. No one in store could show me this information. I then pointed out on my Bonus Bond voucher there is nothing stating in the T's C's that they cannot be used to purchase other vouchers.
Following this I went on the Bonus Bonds website - where they advertise that Boots are a retailer that accept these paper voucher, there is nothing stating that cannot be in exchange for gift cards. Other retailers on this website do show gift cards as an exclusion. An example of this is WHSmiths, I have attached the link to the said webpage.
After speaking to the staff in your store the assistant manager Kerry advised she would call me and let me know where I can view the terms and conditions showing they these cannot be accepted to buy gift cards. As promised Kerry called however couldn't lead me to this information. Instead gave me a customer case number to call and ask the customer care team.
The reason for me emailing yourself is that I think it is absurd that a company of your size not to make your conditions clear to your consumers. This information should be on the bonus Bonds website if you are listed as a retailer, then I would expect it on your website, my next go to is to ask in store, which once again no joy. For then a member of management team to call and not be able to locate me to these said ‘Terms and conditions’ I feel is appalling. I work in management in Admiral and we use bonus bonds as a reward system for our staff. The main retailer that benefit of this in Cardiff is Boots. Going forward I will be reluctant to not only no longer shop in Boots as feel if I ever had another issue it would not be resolved, but also feedback not to use these vouchers as a reward which will in turn mean a lot less business for your Cardiff city centre stores.
I await your response.
Regards
Hayley
