Dear Mr. Penske,
On May 21, 2016 I brought my 2008 Toyota Corolla to your service center located in the Turnersville Auto Mall in New Jersey. I have never written a letter to an Automobile company in my life, for any reason, whatsoever. This needs to be read and understood by customer service workers, mechanics, sales representatives, but most importantly, the upper-ups.
As I was planning to drive across the country, I wanted to make sure my car was ready to go. I brought it in for an oil change, and explained it was going to be driven a couple thousand miles. What turned out to be a service check resulted in recommendations totaling $1300, and I had just dished out an excess of $700 six months prior. I spoke with Tami, and she explained everything to me, thoroughly, especially because I asked so many questions. I spoke then to a salesperson about a trade-in, as I thought car payments may be the answer, again. However, it was in my best interest to seek out other opinions. After paying for other mechanics to review the recommendations made by Toyota, and when nothing coincided, it was then I realized Toyota was just another blood sucking automobile company. How sad.
About two weeks ago, I arrived at my home in San Diego, California, permanently. I drove the Corolla clear across the USA from the Northeast to the Southwest, air-conditioning ‘on’, packed to the roof, I even used ‘regular’ gasoline (87 Octane). And, to boot, nothing was wrong with the car. It just purred down the road 3000 miles (4800 km). It’s an awesome car, but most likely my last Toyota.
I bought my Corolla at the Turnersville location, and have maintained my vehicle with all suggestions and requirements, as expected. All work, aside from a couple of oil changes, was done at this location. This is actually my third Toyota, my family has owned ten of them, all bought at dealerships on both coasts. Many friends own Toyotas, as well. I have shared my story with all, and they’re simply disgusted. Toyota has failed me and many others.
Additionally, I just brought it into a mechanic (NOT Toyota), and it checked out great!
Former customer,
Tim
