Linda sent a message to Michael O’Leary – CEO, Ryanair – Email Address that said:
This is a skype phone and as we live in the mountains in Spain the internet is not always that good signal via the donkey sanctuary down the road ha ha
Dear Micheal, I am writing to you to ask for your help, nothing to do with a complaint or anything like that ha ha but a much more serious matter, we live here in Spain and voted in the recent referendum to REMAIN, as the vote went against us we now find ourselves along with many others living either outside the UK or as indeed those EU nationals living in the UK as people with no real representation our lives are on hold as we do not know how this is going to affect all of us will we be able to stay, will we still get medical cover, will our pensions be affected, will the younger of us be able to study, work or continue running businesses, we are already paying the price every day with the exchange rate, I guess you are wondering why I am asking for your help well it was the likes of Ryanair that gave us our dreams of a life not constrained in the UK it made it possible to widen our horizons and live a life that was not possible before, I came to Spain in 1966 when I was 6 for the first time and then over the years with my parents I even went to school here on and off but I have had to wait 30 years to retire here and its been made possible by two things belonging to the EU and cheap cost air travel its so good to know we can afford to go back to the UK for visits or indeed if you have a problem like family illness in some cases on the same day its really like catching a bus. We now find ourselves with no voice, many people here could not vote because of the 15 year rule so we now have a facebook group which has only just sprung up where those of us that voted to remain can at least let of steam and try and get any info. there is a similar group in France I understand I can not stress enough how stressful this has become for a large group of people that just want to live out the lives how they want to and nobody is interested in our plight its not fair that this vote which I personally think should never have been called for in the first place. 2nd The percentage was so small for such a massive life changing event I do not believe is credible. 3rd The information prior to the referendum at best was inaccurate if not completely untrue we did not even receive any information ie the gov. booklet out here. 4th People that have been out of the country more than 15 years did not have the right to vote which I think is absolutely wrong especially on something like the referendum and I understand again cases of people not receiving their vote in time. 5th People should now be given a chance to vote again when they know what they are voting for the original vote was a simply IN or OUT we need to know what we are voting for you can not make a crucial decision on lies half truths and no truths. I am hoping you will at least read this and if you can think of any way you might be able to publicize our situation or help us. Thanks you for taking the time sorry if I ramble the facebook group is Bremain in Spain we are only a small group but growing daily take a look . Yours Faithfully Linda
