Dear Mr. May, I am an artist living in Oak Bluffs, MA. On July 4 – Thomas J May email address

Peter sent a message to Thomas J. May – Chief Executive Officer and President of Eversource Energy – Email Address that said:

Dear Mr. May,
I am an artist living in Oak Bluffs, MA. On July 4, 2016, my collaborator and I placed a temporary installation of oil paintings on utility poles in and around the utility poles in and around the Oak Bluffs Art District. The paintings were all on the subject of promoting love in a violent and frightening world. The 54 paintings were donated to the Oak Bluffs Public Library for fund raising purposes. The work was met with universal approval for the positive energy that it generated. Each painting had contact information on it in case removal became an issue. We could be contacted and the works would be immediately removed.

On Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, 49 of the 54 original oils were torn from 49 poles by Eversource. This includes poles located on our property, where, as elsewhere, pieces of the paintings were left hanging. We were not at home. Witnesses told us later that Eversource viciously tore them down. The town of Oak Bluffs has assured us that they did not request you to do this.

While we understand that Eversource owns the poles, we could have easily removed the artwork. Our question is: "Why would you do this?"

We are heartbroken at the destruction of a well intentioned effort. Can you please tell us what purpose this served Eversource?

Sincerely,
Peter
