debbie sent a message to James J. Murren – Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International – Email Address that said:
Mr. Murren,
I am a high school teacher and a cancer survivor here in California. I'm emailing you to regretfully inform you that the 4-day stay at MGM this year was what I did not expect to encounter from a prestigious and a worldly renowned hotel such as MGM. I've been a cancer survivor for the past 5 1/2 years, and since my marriage in 1998, I've been taking a summer trip to Vegas, specially choosing MGM as my destination every summer. I'm a proud mom of 14 year-old son who's been enjoying our summer vacation since he was 3, and he and I felt that this year's (as well as last year-two consecutive years in a row) trip was extremely disappointing. I have been choosing your hotel, because of your generous involvement and dedication towards Cancer Institute, your mission and vision in providing the best service to your clients.
However, having no water in the shower for 2 hours (after 4 hours of swimming with a 14 year old sweaty teenager). not being able to flush toilet after using it, and sleeping next to very obnoxiously loud couples smoking pots and cigarettes until 5:30 in the morning made me decide to write this email. I regret to inform you that I work hard, enjoy my summer off in Vegas, look forward to a new school year, but it will change after this experience.
I do understand that you strictly enforce policies in which anybody staying in your hotels have to abide by and agree before they book a hotel room. However, training your hotel management to remind hotel guests before they check in at the front desk will definitely reassure that this type of incidents will not happen at your premise.
I am going back to school in September here in California, and this experience I had at MGM will be the talk of my "what did you do this summer?" story.
