matthew sent a message to William H. Rogers, Jr. – Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Banks – Email Address that said:
I am not sure where else to turn. I have had my car repossessed by Suntrust Bank and after getting it back I have had nothing but issues.
Originally, I had transposed two numbers in my account information used to set up my auto draft (set up on the Suntrust website). After receiving a letter stating that I had failed to make my first payment, I called and made my payment as well as corrected the payment information. I was told that everything should function normally. This was not the case. The payments were not coming out of my State Employees Credit Union account, yet I was never sent a letter stating this. My case manager said that they "Called my cell phone and my work phone" but apparently North Carolina does not require Suntrust to leave a message, so they did not. I had no idea that any of this was going on until I woke up to find the car gone.
Luckily, Suntrust had recorded all of the calls except the ones where I called and tried to straighten everything out. They will not fix my credit unless a bank error is proven, yet they have somehow managed to not record the only evidence that would abscond me of these horrible repercussions.
I do not know if this will ever find you, or that you will ever open it, but I am asking for your help. Before Suntrust, i have never made a single late payment to any institution. I have had a shining credit report that I have prided myself on. I paid a lot of money in repossession fees, which I am not asking for back, all I want is to have my credit fixed. This error will haunt me for 7 years. I am only 20 years old. I want to buy a house and enjoy the same trust with a bank that I have always been able to. I believe wholeheartedly that it was a banking error. I believe that I could have made some changes as well as monitored the activity a bit closer, but I never knew it was as serious as it was until the car was already gone. My Suntrust online account showed the payments being made, and that I did not ever question because I knew that I was supposed to be making them. I appreciate your time and God Bless.
Regards,
Matthew
