Joseph sent a message to John J. Mulligan Interim President and CEO, Target Corporation that said:
Mr. Mulligan, I have been a Target Credit Card holder and customer for many years. I always have good shopping experiences at Target stores and Pharmacies..... until last week . I live in Punta Gorda FL and travel the nearest Target store, 10.7 mi away in Port Charlotte, FL. I am a 67, retired, a Veteran. NRA member, a father and grandfather. My wife and I live in Florida were we have our conceal carry weapons permits. Recently Target has been in the news with your statement supporting 'Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America'. These are anti-gun advocates who Target has decided to side with. I am disappointed in your recent statement, But starting today we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target even in communities where it is permitted by law. I am disappointed in your decision to follow in the footsteps of the other fast food and stores who support this action. You have only listened to one side by making your decision saying, Weve listened carefully to the nuances of this debate and respect the protected rights of everyone involved. In return, we are asking for help in fulfilling our goal to create an atmosphere that is safe and inviting for our guests and team members. By choice you only have listened to the to one side, which is not "EVERYONE involved." I fail to understand your term "nuances of this debate." We do not live in a State that has open carry policy however, I support gun laws and rights of others in the States that do. As CEO of Target the decision you have made has caused me to make my decision to boycott Target. Today I will transfer our prescriptions to the CVS in Punta Gorda, which is very close to Publix where we do our food shopping. Like Target I will to continue to follow in the foot steps of those who, "I listen to." Joseph
