Susie sent a message to Richard J. Dugas, Jr. – Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of PulteGroup, Inc. – Email Address that said:
Good afternoon,
My name is Susie Kinsey and I am purchasing a beautiful Pulte Home in Ashford Manor in Cumming, GA. I plan to close on this home tomorrow. This house truly has everything on my bucket list of home items except for an ocean view. So to say I am completely in love with my new home would be an understatement. I have been working with your Realtor, Sarah Banks, who is an absolute delight.
Although the home is amazing, the yard is not. This is why I am reaching out to you and I hope you will indulge me a little further so I may explain. In my many years of business, I have learned that sometimes it is best to go straight to the top to see results instead of working my way through the ranks. Furthermore, because I am closing on my home tomorrow, this issue needed to be escalated quickly.
The yard was “patched” where portions of the yard was supposedly replaced with Bermuda sod. The yard is full of crab grass and weeds and has not been maintained since the Spec Home was built approximately 6 months ago. I requested that the yard be replaced but was denied by Eric Dickinson. My phone call with him today did not go well as he was extremely rude and unprofessional. He refused to resolve this issue and when I clearly expressed my disappointment and frustration, his response to me was, and I quote, “then don’t close”. Surely this is not how you want one of your employees treating a new homeowner. And I am quite certain you would not want to lose a sale due to an easily remedied issue.
I am purchasing a brand new home. Being a Spec Home should be irrelevant. A new home should have a thriving, beautiful yard to accent and accompany the new home. Had I purchased an existing home, this would not be an issue. Pulte Homes and their landscaping company failed to maintain the yard when the sod was originally put down. This should not be, nor can it be the new homeowner’s fault or problem. As the new homeowner, why should I have to suffer the consequences of someone’s failure to do their job?
Pulte Homes claim is that their homes are “Life Tested”. Shouldn’t this include the entire product and not just the home? Therefore, I am respectfully requesting your assistance in ensuring the yard at Lot 87, 7315 Ashford Manor Way be replaced with a thriving Bermuda sod. I want to be proud of my home and my yard, just as I am completely certain that you and your company want to be proud of the product you provide to your customers.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to your timely response.
Sincerely,
Susie
