Mr. Fields, I purchased a certified 2012 Ford Focus in 2014 with 30,000 miles – Mark Fields email address

Courtney sent a message to Mark Fields – President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company email address that said:

Mr. Fields,

I purchased a certified 2012 Ford Focus in 2014 with 30,000 miles would on it with a 125,000 mile extended warranty. Question: Do you have children? After you hear what I am about to say about this car, I would like to know if you put your children in this car or anyone else's.

I have had problems with the transmission since i bought this car. It started by shuttering and stalling in the middle of turning in the highway, which almost caused me to get hit by a semi. That is only the beginning. I have taken the car in a total of 6 or 7 times to get it fixed, however, your employers fail to fix it or maybe your company just does not want to spend the money to fix it? This car is unsafe! It has failed again and again at least a week after getting it back.

I have went to FORD and told them about my issue multiple times, the first three times they told me it was normal and sent me home ad did not take me seriously. So, I tried a different dealership, they hung up on me. So, I tried another dealership, they told me they couldnt get my car in at 11 because they go to lunch from 11-1 and couldnt take it at 2 because they like to be home at 4. So when do they work?

So, I finally got Jerseyville FORD to do something. They reprogrammed it, said it was fine and it messed up again. I took it back and they drove it with a computer and gave me an appointment to replace the seals a few weeks later. That didn't fix it. Then, they cleaned the clutches, didnt work. Then, they ordered new clutches that took a month to get, didnt fix it and then my tranmission malfunctioned (next section explains).

The last time it failed on me it went up to 7000 RPM's and wasn't going anywhere. When it finally caught up the car dangerously lurched forward and I had no control over it. The engine and transmission malfunction light came on (this happened a week after they put in the new clutch and said it was "perfect"). I called the FORD dealership and told them this, they said that they would tow it. When i told them my address and how far away I lived that told me to drive it there. Although, it was unfit to drive. Then, when I got it there I got an old ford fusion for a week I spent $100 in gas, thats almost a months worth of gas for me! Then they told me they needed the loner back and they would give me a rental because it is in my extended warranty. However, they then told me I couldn't have the rental car because I am 20 not 21, but they sold me the warranty. My car was in the shop from August 15-26th. They tried new seals AGAIN. Then the transmission control module, didn't help. When I got it back a week later, it reved up to 5000 RPM's and then lurched forward causing me to almost rear end someone.

So, Mr. Fields, would you put a child or your child in this car? I figured not. I am fed up with FORD, your company right now. This car is going to hurt someone.

May I remind you that I am a college student that spent $15,000 on a "reliable safe" car. I commute to college and work everyday, about 100 miles. I have almost got into multiple wrecks. All I want is a reliable car and this is not, but I am tied up in this car. My lawyer will be getting involved, this car is not safe.
