To Mr. White - I have been a Direct TV customer for the last 10 years. Last week, I called Direct TV to see if I could replace one of my receivers (I have 3) with an HDMI output since I bought a new TV and it required HDMI for clearer picture. I was told that I was up for an update and they tried to sell me the Genie which I refused because I don't record TV programs. All I wanted was a receiver with an HDMI output. I was told that there would not be any additional charges and that it would be mailed in 3 days. Well, 3 days past and nothing arrived. I called today to find out what was taking so long. I was told that my order was cancelled. I would have to re-order again. So I did. This time I am told that I had to pay a one-time fee of $21.35 for shipping and handling of the unit. I accepted. Then I am told that there would be an additional $10.00 monthly for this unit plus there would be a 24 months contract for the replacement receiver and if I cancel, I would have to pay a cancellation fee. First I am told that my monthly bill would remain the same and now there will be an additional $10/month plus a 24 month contract. I have been with you for 10 years! Maybe with your help, I could have the $10/monthly fee and contract for the new receiver waived. I am a senior citizen whose main income is my pension. Waiting to hear from you and hoping you can help me with my dilemma. Thank you.
