I was shocked by a TIAA ad that went by so fast I wasn't sure I heard it. (I was working on the computre in another room, so I conly caught fragments.) The line that shocked me was "He's a Jewish giver who takes care of his own" I believe this was in the context of comparing TIAA to other companies.
I don't know what the person who wrote the ad was thinking, but whether this 'humor' came from the ALT right or the ALT left, or just someone who knows nothing about Jewish cultures, it's as offensive. The fact that similar comments are made about Indian stereotupes, black stereotyps, Muslim stereotupes or any others doesn't make it funny or acceptable -- they're the same forms of thought with different names. It's equally horrifying that this would slip through in a non-profit that served teachers!
Please look into this!
