Dianne sent a message to Matthew S. Levatich – President and Chief Executive Officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. – Email Address that said:
I feel as if I have been betrayed by a close friend!
I am a 2nd generation Harley rider. My father rode in the 1940s and I have been a Harley rider for more than 30 years and currently ride a 2002 FXD.
I just found out about the cam chain tensioner problem (1999 to 2006) and how Harley-Davidson has been evading responsibility and accountability and leaving owners saddled with the costs of this failure.
I expected better from Harley-Davidson! The one thing that had always set HD apart from the competition (in my mind) was solid engineering and company integrity but this problem has shaken my faith in Harley-Davidson.
I am an older rider (67) living on a pension, and my Harley is a big part of my life but now I need to come up with $1000 (Canadian) to fix this problem properly.
I don't imaging you will ever see this email and doubt I will receive any response but felt obligated to express my concern. I just wish Harley-Davidson would do THE RIGHT THING and keep its integrity.
