Shelia sent a message to James Goodnight CEO, SAS Institute – email address that said:
Dear James Goodnight
I know you're a busy individual but I made my grandfather a promise. I currently work for Verizon Wireless and have been in the start up stage of opening my own personal assistant business. In the past year the economy is staggering and have felt it was time to look elsewhere. My grandfather met you once and you left a lasting impression on him. I don't know the specifics just that he met you once at a hospital. He was unaware of who you were at the time but he said you had spoke very kindly to him. He later discovered who you were and your charities. For the past three years he's tried persuading me to work for SAS. I explained SAS wasn't a good fit for me because I'm not a genius. I told him someday if I ever met you I would speak kindly to you, for him. He passed away last Monday at 86 years old and I wanted to fulfil my promise and tell you thank you for being so kind to him. You never know the impressions that you leave by a kind word.
Sincerely,
Shelia
