Starr sent a message to W. Craig Jelinek – President and Chief Executive Officer of Costco Wholesale Corporation email address that said:
I took my car in to have a flat repair as it had a nail in it. I bought the tires at Costco originally, was told it was a free service. After waiting many many hours, I was told that due to the nail, it was too dangerous to put back on the car and that he would either put my spare on or I could buy two new tires. I asked that he just put it back on and he refused. I felt blackmailed into buying two new tires, as I could not afford to drive around on the spare with a trip coming up the next few days. I feel like this is just like Wells Fargo, forcing people into a sale that I personally can't afford at this time in my life having just been the victim of securities fraud, I'm living totally on social security. I used my one credit card in order to drive home!! I feel that Costco should either discount the cost of the two tires substantially or give me back my "dangerous" tire so I can go to Les Schwab and really it fixed. The total bill was $289.00 dollars.
