Cynthia sent a message to William H. Rogers, Jr. – Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Banks – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Rogers, It has come to my attention via many FB posts that Suntrust is one of the investors in the Dakota Access Pipeline. I am a Suntrust customer and as such an asking you to review your relationship with this ill-conceived project.
when we moved to Florida three years ago, I specifically sought out a bank that was like the one I'd left behind in the midwest. A bank that is very aware of its community, its customers. A bank that might possibly even come to know me.
Supporting DAPL is anathema to that ideal.
I have written once to Suntrust and received no response and so I am now writing to you.
Please review your bank's part in the great harm being done to the environment, the Indigenous People and the WATER by your support of DAPL.
It will be a lot of headache to switch banks now, but I cannot in good conscious give my business to a company that does not care about me, my children and grandchildren, and whether or not they have water.
