Theresa sent a message to Meg Whitman President and CEO, Hewlett-Packard Company – email address that said:
Dear Ms. Whitman:
Great to have a woman in "High Places" Congratulations.
I have a serious problem with the "Help" on the Hewlett Packard computer. I once (about 2 years ago) needed help, and when I got the "techies" they "fixed" the problem and charged my exorbitantly. (I could look up the bill).
However, the seriousness of this situation came when they kept calling me (over a year, about twice weekly) saying they needed to "fix" my computer.
Finally they said that I could receive a refund of my initial payment if I would give them my bank account information so that they could make a direct deposit. When I did this, they were in control of my account, and I saw that $1,000 was being withdrawn from my account. I immediately on my other phone, called VCU (my bank) and the Manager told me to disconnect everything. I did and that stopped the transaction (fraudulant withdrawal). Since that time, they still call, mornng, noon, and night to tell me that they want to fix my computer.
Meg, I am 79 and my husband is 84 with parkinsons, and we don't appreciate this harassment. I doubt that you know about this, but it is as current as last evening, 800 numbers THEY COME FROM EVERYWHERE.
Will you and your associates and "worker bees" please try to follow up on this kind of harassment? I can't believe that Hewlett Packard knows this is going on. They speak "broken" English, so I doubt that they are legitimate employees of HP.
Please see if you can get something done, and it would be great if you could follow up on this behavior as I am sure that there are thousands (maybe millions) being mistreated. I will never have HP Help contact me.
Sincerely hoping that you will take some kind of action, I am
appreciativelly in your hands.
Terri
