FR George sent a message to Gerard M. Anderson – Chief Executive Officer of DTE Energy Company – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr.Anderson,
My name is FR.George . I am a Catholic. Priest from Grand Rapids. I have been working with a family where the bread winner has a terrible form of lung cancer known as Mesothelioma. Their bill is over 2,000.00. One of our well to do Parishioners attempted to pay the entire bill via checking account. The check was rejected both times he used your Guest Pay method. When he inquired at his bank, he was told that there was more than enough money to cover the amount and they weren't sure why the check was returned and think it was because of the way it was submitted and was an error on the billing department at DTE. They now require a credit card or Certified Check. We decided through our benevolence program to increase the limit we usually allow and approved a payment of 2,750.00 and I obtained a certified Cashier Check. I mailed it to DTE on December 30th. I called your billing department to report that we had authorized and mailed this payment. The person who I spoke with was very rude to me and told me that these people would be disconnected anyway. We have worked with DTE in the past and have never had an issue like this. The person in this household with Mesothelioma is very ill and cold air could kill him. We are asking for a little extra time for this check to reach you. Since I did not get anywhere with Customer Care, I thought to email you. Surely as CEO you can help. These people are hanging by a thread and I ask for your intervention. The account holders name is Michelle. Thank You for your time and may God Bless and keep You. Sir.
Sincerely Yours,
FR. George
