Ian sent a message to Peter E. Nordstrom – President and CEO of Nordstrom Inc. – Email Address that said:
Dear Mr. Nordstrom and Members of the Nordstrom Board,
My family and I will not be shopping at Nordstrom until you discontinue your association with the Trump Family. Once Mr. Trump became President Elect that relationship became political--it is no longer ethically appropriate to market items owned by the family, especially as they consistently blur lines between private actions and public roles. My family and I have reviewed our spending at Nordstrom, Boston over the last 5 years, and we average several thousand dollars of purchases across womens, mens, and childrens clothing and shoes each year. We will no longer make those purchases at Nordstrom. I will buy my suits locally, my wife will shop at Eileen Fisher etc., and our son will happily move to Macy's.
I understand that you have reviewed policy on this already. Put simply, you made the incorrect choice ethically, whether it impacts business beyond such small protests as this, I cannot fathom. But your board must know that this is the incorrect choice. I hope that you correct it.
Sincerely,
Ian
