Mary sent a message to Meg Whitman President and CEO, Hewlett-Packard Company – email address that said:
Dear Ms. Whitman,
My name is Marty
I am nobody!!! I am just a guy working on his computer in his basement wanting to do good things for all our Veterans of which I am one having served in The USAF from 1969-1973.
This is the letter I am sending to corporations asking for product donations: I am writing to you asking for your support of my mission of collecting and distributing, to Veterans, donations of jackets, coats, hats, gloves, pants, shirts, footwear, socks, underwear personal hygiene products, food, beverages, snacks and gift cards.
I am asking for your donations of money to help cover the overhead of storage, transportation, distribution and providing things for Veterans not donated by business. I ask you to spread the word about my campaign to your peers in positions of leadership, influence and power so they can donate.
I am NOT, repeat NOT a non-profit 501-3C, just a guy wanting to do some good for those who have served and sacrificed for our country making it possible for those at home to live their lives, prosper from their work and enjoy the love of family.
My motivation is to deliver your donations to the vast number of Veterans some of whom must wait months before seeing a doctor, exist day to day and the countless number of Homeless Veterans.
Twenty years, ago when our kids were of single digit age, I did a similar project using my Santa Claus costume. I wrote letters like this to businesses I thought would support my efforts. The campaign was quite successful giving my family pleasure in giving back to the community delivering a visit from Santa bearing gifts to distribute and more importantly teaching our kids the value doing something noble for others. I want my project to become national reaching as many veterans as are out there.
I have a GoFundMe page you can visit, read donate:
I appreciate and thank you for your consideration.
POWER UP!!!
Marty
