My wife was taken to Westside Hospital in Plantation by the City of Sunrise EMS with a severe leg injury. According to the Orthopedic Surgeon on duty, her injury was beyond his ability to handle. My wife was then transfered to Kendall Regional over 30 miles away. My question is, was she sent there because that was the best place for her injury or because HCA owned both hospitals? She could not have been transfered to a trauma center more convenient for us such as Broward Health Center in Fort Lauderdale. Is this more about the money of the patient?
