Charles Carey sent a message to Akio Toyoda President and CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation - email address that said:

Dear Mr. Toyoda
Please accept my humble apology for bothering you with an issue which is of great concern to me. My name is Charles Carey and I am the proud owner of a 2012 Scion iQ which is blizzard white pearl in color. I am having a problem with the paint bubbling and peeling off in huge chunks. The first time this happened the paint on the entire roof of the car peeled off. The second time the paint peeled off in a small spot near the gas tank. The paint is currently peeling off in the area above the passenger door. The first two times, Toyota of Elizabeth City fixed the problem. This time they have declined to do so. I have talked to the people at my local Toyota/Scion dealer and I have talked to a Case Manager at Toyota Customer Service. They have both told me that Toyota will not take care of the problem this time. The Case Manager told me that Toyota does not care if people say bad things about them and she has no idea why I am having this problem because she is not a Service Technician.

I have done some research into this issue and found that people who own the same model in the same color are having the same problem. Here are two websites where they have discussed what has happened to them:

At this time, I am requesting that you take steps to have this problem solved by Toyota because it is obvious that this is being caused by a flaw in the paint at the time the automobile was manufactured. I purchased this car in February, 2013 and it has 35,000 miles on it. As you can see, I dont drive it a lot. I am a 68 year retiree living on a fixed income and I am in love with my Scion iQ.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter and once again I apologize for bothering you.
