Phil Evans sent a message to Bob Sasser - Chief Executive Officer and President of Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. - Email Address that said:
Russ,
On 7/10, I advised Satesh that I would be terminating my employment with Dollar Tree, effective 7/21, after 14 years of dedicated service. I received a phone call from Satesh that morning asking me to think it over and get back with him later that day to confirm that was what I wanted to do. After giving it additional thought, I felt it was in my best interest to go ahead and pursue other avenues of employment. It was my sole intention to leave Dollar Tree, and those that I worked with, on good terms. Also on 7/10, I received an email from Satesh confirming that I was going to ensure that Store 4511 would be ready for inventory on 7/19 and I assured him that I would see to it that they were prepared. Several weeks ago, I asked Satesh if he wanted me to attend the inventory or attend the Career Day and he advised me to have another Store Manager oversee the inventory that day and for me to attend Career Day. When I received Sateshs email on 7/10 concerning the inventory, I got confirmation from him that I was to have a Store Manager oversee the inventory and I would attend Career Day. I had arranged for Dariel, Store 4855, attend the inventory in my place.
On 7/13, I received a phone call from Satesh and he stated that since 7/15 was the end of the pay period, rather than have 1 week of pay left, that it would be easier to just make 7/14 my last day at Dollar Tree. I advised him that I was with the understanding that DMs and above are paid in real time and that week ending 7/22 is the end of the pay period. He told me that he would check on it and let me know if that was the case, otherwise for me to arrange with Raymond Davis to turn in my laptop, keys, credit cards and ipad. I told him that I would, we exchanged pleasantries and that was the end of the conversation. I did not hear from him again other than a text message I received on 7/14 asking when I would pay off the balance on my Dollar Tree credit card.
The evening of 7/13, I received a personal email that all of my Dollar Tree information had been wiped out, therefore I had no way of accessing anything related to Dollar Tree. I arranged with Raymond that I would take my Dollar Tree car, etc to the Tarpon Springs, FL location and he asked me to have it there by 9am so that he could drive down and get it or arrange to have David Keesling pick it up. So on 7/14, I dropped of the car and the Dollar Tree belongings to the Store Manager (Nick).
I have emails that confirm all of the above.
Today, I check my bank account and there is only $288 being deposited into my account.....32 hours! As I told Satesh, this week should have been my last week so that I would be paid a full 2 weeks. I was assured, by Satesh, that he would look into the pay question on 7/13 and, obviously, he did not. I just got off of the phone with Lisa Kelly and he is telling her that he told me the decision for making last week my final week was due to inventory and Career Day...this is absolutely not true! Not only am I getting screwed out of a weeks pay, had I been allowed to work out my entire 2 weeks, but I am also getting screwed out of an entire full week from last week. I worked Sunday through Friday for Dollar Tree, and even fielded calls on Saturday morning. I have emails and phone records to show that worked the entire week last week. As mentioned before, I put in 14 years of dedicated service to this company. I did everything I could to leave on good terms and went above and beyond to ensure that would happen. Now, to have this company, and my former supervisor, do this to me is absolutely wrong! Using Sateshs own words, you are a good DM and I hate to see you go, but I understand that the job is not the same and people have to do what they have to do . This is just not right!
No one knows why I left as no one even cared to do an exit interview or even ask why I was leaving! If you could please look into this and let me know what you are able to do, I would greatly appreciate it.
Phil Evans
