Dana Calicott sent a message to Stephen Burke CEO, NBCUniversal, Inc. - email address that said:
As an avid fan of USA World Swimming I have a problem with the broadcasts this year. Apparently since NBC launched the Olympics Channel, it appears that that is the ONLY place one can view swimming anymore. Ive been searching for the usual weekend coverage on NBC networks broadcasting schedule, which is where Id normally have been able to catch what little coverage there is of the World Swim Meet events. Alas, all regular network coverage has disappeared which is HIGHLY upsetting to fans like me.
At my home I pick up broadcasts via a very good roof antenna because I have NEVER been able to afford any kind of pay TV service. Like the majority of lower income Americans I will NEVER be able to afford to pay for television viewing. Over the air is my life line for all of my TV viewing. Thus, if my earlier assumption is correct that means I have permanently lost ability to follow the kind of sporting events I enjoy most the few times a year that they WERE broadcast on the regular network channel. Even worse, if this assumption is correct, Im guessing that this may mean that the Olympics will no longer be view-able without paying for a service that carries the Olympics channel? SHEAR DEVASTATION!
Why dont you remove all golf broadcasts to the Golf Channels? All baseball, football, basketball, etc. to their respective cable channels? Why must you target Olympic sports, especially those that have a wide audience as well?
WHY? WHY would NBC do this? That is not only SO WRONG, it rings of discrimination against the economically challenged! Why must we be punished in this manner?
I implore NBC to resume these broadcasts on the regular network channels so that we can once again enjoy these sporting events as previously aired.
