John Menkhaus sent a message to Thomas M. Rutledge - Chief Executive Officer and President of Charter Communications, Inc. - Email Address that said:
I do hope you read this personally because I know how much a person in your position hates being labeled unethical . I am 78, retired, have a bachelor and MBA and spent most of my working career in middle to upper management of an international electrical manufacturing and distribution company. My forte was Human Resources.
I have seen many of your advertisements touting the fact that Time Warner is now Spectrum and have see many adds stating you have better deal now than ATT and Direct. that is why when I noticed my latest bill was only $1.65 more than last month, I wondered why. Then I thought about the bonus programs I had participated in over the years and realized. with a minimum of only a million customers in South Carolina (my guess) that would mean a simples stoke of your pen would result in an increase of $43,800,000 to your coffers. Not a bad days work. I experienced a similar but much more expensive situation with our local newspaper and was told by their Manager of Retention Department that all communications companies had adopted a similar business model and would increase rates which they hoped would not draw attention and unless challenged, would just increase the profits of that enterprise. There were no reasons for the increase, just initiated. Well I bitched to the paper and now to you and , guess what, both companies not only rescinded the increase but actually came up with a lesser rate than what I was already paying. I thanked God that I was one of those who do not ever have anything automatically deducted from any account which would likely go totally unnoticed. Ergo, my contention that this action, which you direct, is highly unethical. The young woman at our local office of Time Warner looked on her computer and was able to find an identical Spectrum package for about $12 per month less . Amazing coincidence wouldnt you say!
I will let all my contacts know if my experience and strongly advise them to carefully weigh any decision to use Time Warner, Spectrum of what ever else you decide to call yourself. You give manufacturing and services businesses a bad name!
