Good evening,
I have some limited reading completed surrounding the current issue and I believe I have a valid suggestion to overcome a possible shortfall of future qualified pilot numbers, in view of retirement and lack of new trainees.
I believe the main reason for lack of new recruits is the amount it costs to become a pilot. I know this to be true as I has grounded my husband! He would love to become a pilot but after supporting me through a degree ( 4yr midwifery) enabling me to retrain and having 3 children, we can not afford the debt in reality.
This got me thinking that a company, Ryanair could offer sponsorship for candidates to become pilots. In return the new recruit has to remain with the company for a set number of years. However if they decide to leave the company or fail to complete the training then the cost of training needs to be paid back in full. Any further training or courses would keep the same rules all the while the newly qualified can climb within the company where possible once training debt has been repaid, e.g 2 years completed within Ryanair??.
I believe this will have a long-term impact on pilot numbers and give those with a passion for the job a chance to have career satisfaction.
Your company has kept my family together!! Bold statement but it is true and feel that it is true for a large percentage of families!
My husband supported me through my degree by working away from the family home. He continues to do so to enable my children to lead full lives. We heavily rely on your cheap flights to bring him home to us every Saturday and back on Sundays ready for work again on Monday morning. I am not looking for pity as we are both working and there are many families like us, however I would like to thank you for making it possible for my children to see their father weekly.
I wish you continued success in your great company and we will continue to use you weekly.
