Mr. Ellison,
Congratulations on becoming the new CEO of JCPenney.
As the company has struggled over the years I am not sure that I understand some of the decisions that have been made in the current stores. There seems to be a lot of waste, an example would be spending the money to ship back .com orders when we sell it in the store. Wouldnt it be more cost effective to keep it as stock? Working in the curtain and drapery department I cant begin to tell you how many people are upset that we dont have anything in stock and they have to order. To them it is easier to go to another store where they can walk out with their purchase. I understand the push to keep on line sales up but you also have to keep in store customers happy. I was told that we also do not place orders for the little that we do carry, it is sent out based on our sales. There seems to be a communication problem because we hardly ever get things that we are out of. We have to put new displays and have never gotten any of the curtains in.
I also wanted to point out that if sales are down in the juniors department it would not surprise me. I am not sure who does the purchasing for this department but when I go with my daughter and her girlfriends they are hard pressed to find anything that is in style.
I hope that these suggestions will be looked into.
Thank You
