Gday Mr Fritz, I just read an article on
Trains Magazine website about a boy
named Elliot Burgos who just died of
brain cancer. He had a huge love of
trains and used to visit the UP Yard in
Mason City Iowa. On the day of his
funeral his family took his coffin to the
yard for one last time. Whilst they where
there an engine that had been taken off
of its train by mistake was noticed, its
number was 8508 which is Elliots birth
date. Some UP employees moved the
engine near to where the coffin was for
the family. It was a very touching story
and showed what good hearts rail
employees have. As the story is touching
a lot of people who read this story they
are asking if UP would consider naming
the locomotive after young Elliot who
was 9 years old when he passed. I know UP doesnt name locomotives for ordinary people but could this be done for Elliot who was an ordinary person but he loved trains in an extra ordinary way, it would be very good PR for UPRR, Thanking you Geoffrey
Hearn. PS. here is a link to the story,
