Michelle Brose sent a message to William H. Rogers, Jr. CEO, SunTrust Banks, Inc. email address that said:
My husband and I received a letter with a statement prepared date of 2/16/2018 from Suntrust Mortgage stating that we owed $2,369.33 due to a shortage in our escrow account. We bought our home in Dec 2016 using Hometrust Mortgage as our lender. I called my original loan officer, Kim Harmon, to look into this matter. She sent over the paper work that my husband and I signed with each piece of our escrow account broken out and our Windstorm Policy was included. Once our mortgage was sold to Suntrust they failed to include our Windstorm Policy within our escrow account. Now I am being told that this was not Suntrusts fault and that we just need to pay. Suntrust is stating that a Binder Policy was sent over for our Windstorm in Dec 2016 from Hometrust and this is why Suntrust cancelled our windstorm policy from being escrowed in 2017.
When we closed on our home we specifically requested that all insurance and taxes be escrowed in, including Windstorm. We were never asked if we wanted this to be taken out of our escrow account, it was just done so by Suntrust. My question is, if we wanted to pay our Windstorm policy out of pocket why would we have it billed to Suntrust and not sent to our home?
What did the binder policy say when it was sent from Hometrust? Did it say to remove the Windstorm Policy from the escrow account? If it was the Windstorm was billed to Suntrust whats their excuse for not including it in their escrow account?
