JULIA DEGIORGIO sent a message to Edward W Stack that said:
I want to bring to your attention the fact that your Smithtown, NY store does not have any motorized carts for the handicapped. I was told they sent it out for repair and never got it back.
After speaking with Tyrell (corp c.s.) he found out that management is new at that store (6 weeks) and would look into it.
After about 1/2 hour with various departments to find out what your policy is on providing these is, I guesss that there is one allocated to each store. Is that the policy?
My husband and I are both disabled and would like to be able to shop together, but I guess that's not possible at Dicks S.G. since we would need two, plus the fact that there may be more than one shopper who needs the motorized cart.
I'm very disappointed ...supermarkets supply more than one to a store and they are a lot smaller than a Dicks.
Hopefully you will never need to use these or make a decision where to shop by the services to the handicap. It's not that we have a choice in these matters but a necessity.
I guess that we will never shop at Dicks again, since I drove 25 miles and wasn't able to shop and stores closer to me I found out only have one cart.
I've put a call into the ADA for recommendations on how to proceed.
Thanks for listening!
