Lisa Freedman sent a message to Carol Meyrowitz that said:
Dear Carol,
We spoke many years ago, but I misguidedly misplaced your email address.
Just writing to say that I am very unhappy with the decision to divide and butcher the wonderful Encino, California Marshallâs location by adding Home Goods into the mix. Itâs claustrophobic in there now, with 50% less clothing and shoes, than there once was. My friends and I are not fond of the new floor plan and atmosphere there to the point that we have stopped shopping at that location.
My suggestion for you would be to grab the fantastic and available location in nearby Sherman Oaks, which has no Marshallâs. This would be next door to a very successful Ross Dress for Less, at the corner of Riverside Drive and Woodman Ave. There is plenty of parking, and a Westfield mall next door. You would thrive in this small plaza! Itâs busy round the clock. The location I have in mind is a two story unit (used to be a Joseph Magninâs) with a terrific escalator, as well as an elevator, to whisk the customers upstairs. You could have Marshallâs on the first floor and Home Goods on the second floor. And there would be plenty of room to have lots of product for both businesses, without the need to dumb anything down.
Frankly, Iâm shocked that your location people havenât grabbed this spot. It was made for you. There is also a B of A and a pet store business. And every time I go to B of A I cannot resist going into Ross as well.
BTW, you guys also messed up the Northridge location on Vanowen St. by adding a Home Goods inside that store as well. So the only good locations you have left with a dedicated Marshallâs are Burbank and Studio City. And for we who love to shop, and often, this is quite frustrating.
Sincerely,
Lisa Freedman
