Chris Roby sent a message to Gabriel Tirador that said:
Mr. Tirador,
I'm reaching out to you as a last resort.
In 2018, my family realized a lifelong dream of becoming owners of a vacation home in the Lake Tahoe area. For the past year, we've created amazing family memories in our home.
Recently, our insurance broker who recommended Mercury, came to us and said we should switch carriers because our rates were raised by $500. Not being an expert in this area, and trusting this person, we agreed. I recently learned that our agent actually cancelled our Tahoe home insurance (he never had another carrier for this one), and got us insurance on our primary home, which we already have insurance on. It was an honest mistake by him, however, it is causing us many sleepless nights.
It was 24 days without coverage when we discovered this error. Our agent tried to see if Mercury would honor the policy for 2019-2020 that was supposed to renew on December 7, 2019. He was told that Mercury isn't writing any new policies for the Tahoe area.
I'm appealing to you to see if you'd consider this not as writing a new policy, but rather the same policy we had, which you were willing to renew us for as recently as a month ago.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your consideration.
Chris Roby
