Jonathan Levin sent a message to Larry Merlo that said:
Mr. Merlo:
I attempted to return an item which I had purchased with cash at my local CVS . I was asked for my driver's license or other i.d. to be scanned in order for the refund to made. I was told by the staff that they had to ask for and scan i.d. as it is CVS and store policy.
I am pretty upset about this: Whatever reason might there be for scanning an i.d. for a cash transaction?
I checked your return policy online, and found that it says that the customer "may" be asked for i.d. That seems to indicate that the request is optional. I'd like to return the item without giving my i.d. I'd also like CVS to eliminate this policy which is unnecessary and invasive
I'd appreciate your help in this matter.
Thank you.
