Gene Bayer sent a message to Mark Fields that said:
One of the biggest joys I had was the day I was able to buy my 2014 Ford Explorer. Great vehicle, Great Drive and most importantly, it was mine. I also own a 2000 Ford Taurus with 270,000 miles still running strong.
Unfortunately, my experience with the Explorer has become one of regret. More and more system failures met by the local dealers with more of an, Oh Well, attitude.... that's the way it is. SYNC dies, steering goes out, headlamps fail.... and everything is $1,000 or more to get repaired. In the case of the SYNC, they want $1000 to $1,700 and not even offer an upgrade to current technology. The extended warranty, of course, doesn't cover these items so why did I purchase it. Now I am looking to buy a pickup and in the past would have simply bought a FORD.... However, due to the Explorer experience am looking elsewhere. I wish I could feel comfortable buying an F-150 but I need solid technology that last. SYNC has been a disappointment from the start, having never really been what it should have been. Toyota, Chevy, GMC just seem to have surpassed FORD on reliable technology. Please, let me know if FORD has an option, or even cares. Otherwise, will no longer buy FORD product.
