Martha Moore sent a message to Arne Sorenson that said:
When is Marriot going to decide to be more flexible with the cancellation and changes on the Destination Points reservations in view of the C virus pandemic? We are Chairman's Level Owners and we own 2 weeks and also Destination Points. We had plans to come to Oceana Palms Vacation Club in mid April. On March 18, I changed the reservation to end of May 2020. But since no one knows when this nightmare will end what if we have to cancel the end of May reservation. We are told that destination points will be put back to holding account but that we have to use the points by end of Aug 2020 or lose the points. Also we can't make any Destination Club reservation unless it is within a 120 day time of the date of the reservation. In addition, the travel insurance will not be applicable because this is now a pandemic.
We want to use our points and we know Vacation clubs are currently open but if President Trump, state governors and all health officials are saying to stay home and not go anywhere except essential travel and/or shelter in place and all the bars and restaurants are closed except for takeout and also the grocery stores are short on food supplies then it makes it rather difficult to travel anyplace in the US or Europe. In addition you can't fly or take cruises.
If we lose our points for 2020 year due to no fault of our own then we are really going to be very upset and likely will never buy any future Marriott Destination points or give any recommendations to future Destination buyers. We are sure that we are not the only owners who are expressing our view point. In addition, we have family and friends who are also Marriott Destination Points owners and purchased based on our recommendations.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Sincerely,
Sam & Martha Moore
