Caleb Kabinga sent a message to Warren Buffett that said:
Dear Warren Edward Buffett,
I am a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from Regent Business School in Durban South Africa, seeking scholarship, sponsorship and employment. I really need your assistance. Wise people have said "WITHOUT A SENSE OF CARING , THERE CAN BE NO SENSE OF COMMUNITY" and also that âyou have not been so gifted that you could outshine others but rather, that you could be of use to them⦠share knowledge, build skills and make a positive impact to your team.â
I thank God for the basic education and I really need your philanthropy to mitigate my despondency and despair. My passion is entrepreneurship as I have seen real opportunities here in Zambia which when I am given audience I will gladly present my proposition to you, I am also willing to take up a permanent vacant position in your organization commensurate with my CV credentials. Though I have missed 2018 Postgraduate admission due to lack of funds, I am still hopeful that with your financial assistance I will be able to enroll for 2019 intake. My excellence during the Bachelor of Commerce studies entailed immediate continuation to 1-year Postgraduate Diploma, a bridging qualification for an MBA in Entrepreneurship. As you will see from the pro-forma invoice at your request, US $ 2644.10 (R 31, 790) for tuition fees and US$2000.00 (R 23, 946.36) for auxiliary expenses, would suffice. I do not need university campus accommodation as the program is a Long-Distance Learning.
As an Alumni, my school has invited me for a Study Tour of Shanghai metropolitan, being a key business hub, having an extravagant culture, magnificent infrastructure and a fluid transportation system, provides a wonderful introduction to China. This tour is to consolidate the theories I learnt at university. In order for me to be part of this experience, I need to complete the application form and return it before the 31st of May 2018, as spaces are limited. Much as I am humbled by the gesture of my university to invite me for 2018 Shanghai Study Tour based on my academic performance, my biggest impediment is lack of funds to finance this educational trip.
The cost of the study tour is R57 570. The cost includes return air tickets to Shanghai, accommodation (single-occupancy), in-country transportation, meals, visas and some tours. Kindly note that the price may increase subject to exchange rate fluctuations. The price excludes home country in-land transportation, required immunizations, personal expenses, optional cultural events and sight-seeing.
The delegates learning will be transformed and they will be able to correlate the different methods of consumer lifestyles, cultures, and the importance of business management, project planning and particularly logistics and passenger transportation in making business happen. The International Study Tours are organized by a collaboration between the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA), Regent Business School (RBS) and the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) for students as integral to course curriculum in order to achieve the following objectives:
a) Enhance the classroom curriculum. Study tours offer students and their faculty adviser an intense, first-hand experience of the business culture of their chosen country or region.
b) Introduce students to issues related to business globalization.
c) Ensure students understand how the advances in transportation, technology, infrastructure and communication have dramatically increased the level of global interaction.
d) Identify the socio-cultural implications in doing business locally and abroad.
e) Expose students to the opportunity to work in multi- and cross-disciplinary teams and benefit from exposure to the ideas, knowledge and skills of peers from other disciplines and cultures.
f) Present networking opportunities for students.
Money stimulates the rich to further economic activity that ultimately benefits the rest of us, while needing money stimulates the rest of us to further economic activity that ultimately benefits the rich.
I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. ~William Penn
If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. ~Mother Teresa
Therefore, I appeal for your benevolence to enable me finance my 2018 Shanghai Study Tour and Postgraduate Diploma studies to qualify me advance to MBA in Entrepreneurship.
I will be too glad to oblige to your request for Shanghai 2018 Tour information brochure, 2018 Graduate Diploma acceptance letter, certified copy of my degree, latest CV, and the pro forma to support my solicit for your philanthropy.
USD $12.000.00 should suffice for both Alumni tour and Graduate Diploma cost.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours in-need
