Maria S. DeCosimo sent a message to David Abney that said:
Dear Mr. Abney,
My name is Maria DeCosimo and I am reaching out to you as my last effort before pursuing any legal guidance on this issue.
I accepted a position as a UPS 2019 holiday season PVD (#6184960).
I would describe myself as an exemplary UPS PVD employee. With absolutely no experience and minimal training, I delivered between 15 - 18 packages/hour from my Lexus sedan. That average included time to load my vehicle several times.
I was completely cajoled by my overseeing Bridgewater N.J. UPS drivers and supervisor 'Rick' on a daily basis. But, working hard didn't bother me because I honestly enjoyed my PVD position.
On 12/9/2019 I paused my PVD employment. My front bumper caught a customer's exceedingly high driveway curbing and broke off the clip that holds my side bumper in place.
I reported the damage and backed my claim with photos and explicit documentation requesting that UPS help me repair the damage.
Between the aesthetic paint damage and the loss of my bumper clip on 07078 deliveries; the damages to my vehicle were upsetting and financially offsetting any salary I was making as a PVD driver.
I first texted my superiors Rick and Brian of the incident on 12/1/2019 and then again on 12/9/2019 re-texted with detailed information and photos of the curbing and my vehicle damage.
With empathy for the stress UPS'ers were go through during the holiday season I patiently waited for Rick or someone to address my vehicle damage like I was promised.
Unfortunately, I never heard from Rick or any UPS supervisor again.
I am reaching out to you for the help and support the UPS reputation boasts of. Because the damages to my vehicle occurred while delivering for UPS as a PVD, I was reassured UPS protected and covered my vehicle with an auto insurance policy as part of my job benefit; I still have my Auto Insurance Policy folder. Because the damages to my vehicle did occur while delivering for UPS as a PVD on my 07078 route, I look forward to your affirmative reply and ultimately the repair of my vehicle.
Thank you for your time and attention to this personal matter.
