Mr. Menear, below is the change of events that i explained to your review team. I also provided a receipt to show the chain of events, and I was denied the right to make and exchange. I have been a loyal customer of home depot for over 20 years and I am a very hard working individual and this denial is a huge financial loss for me.

Here is my letter of explanation:
To whom it may concern:

Regarding Transaction ID: 258716829-440-THD Total $454.00

Please be advised on December 13, 2019 I purchased a Paslode Cordless XP 30D Framing Nailer as a Christmas gift for my fiance who is a Carpenter for United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America . A few days later I mentioned to a friend of my fiance what I had purchased, he informed me that all my fiance tools are made by Dewalt, and that I should have gotten him the Dewalt Framing Nailer. He stated because my fiance has plenty of Dewalt batteries this would be more feasible. On December 17, 2019, I went to your Steel Yard location and returned the Paslode in exchange for the Dewalt. Although I had the receipt, as well as the credit card used to make the original purchase, I requested store credit for fear their may be a delay in getting the refund to my credit card. I then used the store credit along with my cash to purchase the Dewalt Framing Nailer, which was more expensive then the Paslode. Upon my fiance return I gave him his gift; a few weeks later he attempted to use the tool as he was framing our shed, when he noticed the nails were not going all the way in. He mentioned to his coworker what was going on, and his coworker stated, he had the Dewalt Framing Nailer before, but had to return it because it was constantly jamming and the nails were not going in all the way, so he returned it for a Paslode...LOL. Now my fiance is asking me to return the Dewalt for the Paslode. He states that the Paslode has excellent reviews. So I go back to Home Depot and try to return the Dewalt Framing Nailer to be told I couldn't return it because I used store credit.

I am in receipt of my return history with Home Depot, and based on me and my fiance pass history of rehabbing homes, I am guilty of making those returns. In the past we would purchase more product then what was needed to limit our trips to the store. I'm sure I've misplaced some receipts, and or had the receipts but often times the ink would fade, making the receipt unreadable, and or in some case I would request a store credit because I shop at Home Depot quit often, and knew I could use it at a later date. Un-beknown to me I never knew that having a receipt and asking for store credit it would be held against me. The cashier never explained this to me nor, are their any information posted explaining the effect of using store credit could have on the customer.

As a Human Resource professional, I think the cashier should educate the customer as to how the effects of using a store credit could have on their history with Home Depot, and perhaps add a written disclaimer at the return registers.

In summary, when I shop at Home Depot today, I request an email receipt to avoid future problems. However, I am providing you the receipt of the above mentioned transaction that took place on the 13th. of December, and I am looking to re-purchase the Paslode Framing Nailer.

I have a great reputation with several of your store managers and some cashiers who can speak on how often I would shop at your establishment, (Tony use to be store manager at the Steel Yard location, Liz who use to me a manager, but left because of a personal injury, Darryl who is still presently employed at the Steel Yard location, Debbie cashier, Shannon cashier, and Maurice who use to be the store manager at the Euclid location. My intent was not to abuse your return policy by no means, I was totally unaware of the negative perception of using store credit.

So if you would take this into consideration and allow me to repurchase the Paslode Framing Nailer, I would very much appreciate it. Feel free to contact me via email, or via phone at (216) 577-8642.

Thanking you in Advance,

Linda Moody, BS

Mr. Menear, please review my request. I do have a copy of my receipt that is mentioned.
